Frequently Asked Questions

How do I import a Markdown file?

Tap "Import" in the library screen and choose a file from the Files picker. You can also share a file from any other app — Markdown View will appear in the Share Sheet.

What file formats are supported?

Markdown View supports .md, .markdown, and plain text files (.txt, .log, .csv, .json, .yaml, .xml, .html, .css, .js, .swift, .py and many more). It can also open gzip-compressed text files.

How do I switch between preview and raw Markdown?

Open a document, then tap "Raw Markdown" in the toolbar to see the original source. Tap "Preview" to switch back to the rendered view.

Does the app require an internet connection?

No. Markdown View works entirely offline. No internet connection is needed at any point.

Where are my files stored?

All imported documents are stored locally on your device. They never leave your device unless you explicitly share them.

Does it work on iPad?

Yes! Markdown View is designed for both iPhone and iPad with a responsive layout that takes advantage of the larger screen.

The app is not displaying my file correctly

Make sure the file is a valid text or Markdown file. If the problem persists, please contact us with the file format and a description of the issue.
